LBW Student Council

I have really enjoyed being the LBW Student Council advisor for the past four years.  We do lots of cool activities!
Each third through fifth grade classroom sends two members to the Student Council.  These members serve for one quarter.  Our officers (president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer) are fifth graders and serve for one semester.
Our Student Council tries to do service projects in Mitchell, around South Dakota and the United States, and even around the world!  For example:
Mitchell United States around the world
  • LBW Talent Shows
  • Hat & Gum days - "Money for Sunny"
  • Toys for Tots - at Christmas
  • Ronald McDonald House - saving pop tabs
  • WalkAmerica for March of Dimes
  • "Dollars for Towers"
  • Saved 37.1 acres of Rainforest by selling t-shirts
  • Contributed to UNICEF

Here are some pictures of our school when we decorated for Red, White, and Blue Days in October of 2001.  We finished up with a school-wide assembly of patriotic music and skits.  At the same time we had a "Dollars for Towers" campaign, and raised $911 for the Red Cross Liberty Fund.

Everyone in the school signed this banner.

This display is from the third grade hallway.

These flags are beautiful!

Here are more examples of LBW patriotic artwork.
